pardon my complete ignorance, but...
...Been looking over the specs here online, and also flipping through a 2013 brochure/catalog I have, and though Shiloh mentions upgrades of their various stock woods, nowhere does it say what type of wood. Gunstock wood, once upon a time, at least, was always walnut..now beech is far more common. Shiloh, beyond doubt is a class 'A', first class company, so I assume their stocks are walnut...but...well...are they?
(Yes I know a very basic question, but having been burned once or twice in the past by 'assuming' I thought I would ask.)

Yes on Walnut. From Missouri, IIRC.
Sometimes a Turkish Walnut, if special ordered.
Call'em and get a new catalog. They get better every year.......

Yup walnut, and even their standard wood is a step above some brands and looks just right for a working gun.

There's a lorry load of good Walnut produced every year of the highly figured type, however is mainly used for 'Presentation Arms.' Being English I see a bit of it on 'London Made' guns. Some of it is beautiful, some is magnificent, and some it out of this world. the only problem is the cost. Of course, if your paying upward of US$ 100,000 for a rifle or shotgun, you can afford it. As they say about Rolls Royce cars if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it. Still if there was a lot of it about it would become commonplace and less valued. To see some of this Turkish Wood try 'Lumpy Grits wrote:Yes on Walnut. From Missouri, IIRC.

Not sure but I think they offer laminated stocks as well.
Kirk Stovall's new '77 is getting a laminated stock.

do mc millan offer a drop in synthetic to use for hunting.
this would allow removal of the exhibition wood for rough use.
and you could have a camo paint job.
keep safe,
