What is important is that the forearm be tightened to a consistent torque. The best way to achieve this is to tighten the forearm screw until the wood just starts to split. Then back off on the screw a half turn. This gives complete satisfaction. Trust me. I also have sink holes for sale in Florida and bridges across the Hudson river in New York at very attractive rates. Shoot straight, rdnck.

LOL Looks like all forum posters are having the winter blaaaazzzzs that show up by march every year :D
I have had a couple rifles over the years that I wrapped copper wire around the forearm holding it :D

Yup, and you can make a snare out of it too Art and use the dry oil soaked wood for a fire started

Not to spoil the fun but to the original OP, as has been said only snug. What is also important is what you are doing with the rifle and if you are shooting long strings as in Silhouette there should be a tiny gap between the forearm and the receiver. By tiny the rule of thumb is a dollar bill should be able to pass between the two. If there is no gap when things start to heat up you may find your shots climbing.

Keep on carrying on boys.

Paul I also think one of the screws should be a little loose to allow some release pressure flexing when the barrel heats up.

Kurt,

I've done that too, just make sure you check your shooting mat when you're done or you'll be buying a new screw one day. :D :D

Are you going to make it West this summer?

Paul I just use a longer screw that bottoms out and use blue locktite on the back screw just so there is a slight felt movement.

Yes I will make Baker and the Q. I have been casting all winter and I will start loading in a week or so. I want to run some loads with the new lot of powder to make sure it's up to snuff before filling 1800 cases this year so Brian don't give me a kick in the posterior for running out of ammo again  'See you and Spot in June.
