Dove tail size

Post by paulk »

I have an 1874 #1 Sporter with the standard brass blade on the front. What is the Dove tail size?
I currently have an MVA B5 scope on the rifle. If I were to order MVA Sights so I would be able to shoot scope or iron, would the scope mounts have to come off in order to use a Soule sight setup?
Thank you,
paulk

Usually, no. The front sight sits up tall enough that you look over the base mounts on the rifle barrel for the BPCR silhouette distances. The only time one would think about taking the mounts off would be if you were close on the weight limit for Iron NRA BPCR matches of 12 lbs 2 ozs and you had to take some weight off to make the limit. But you are probably ok there too.

Thank you guys for the input. I'll be visiting the MVA tent at the Quigley.

Well I wouldn't pull any punches or take any chances of hoping they have what you want why don't you actually call them and tell them to bring what you want? bobw
