I have a 45/120 34". I wanted to ask before ordering a couple of casting molds if the rifle will stabilize bullets weighing between 300 and 405 grains ? Thank you

Unless you are trying to develop an express hunting load with BP, I'd suggest going to heavier bullets, 500+ grains. Standard ROT for these .45's is 1:18, which will stabilize such bullets perfectly.

Older Shilohs had 1 in 20 twist so it helps to know what you have. A 450 to 500 grain is a good blind guess.

Plus it should stabilize the shorter bullets also

The only problem with really light bullets and all that horsepower is the bullet has a tendency to strip the rifling.

Rifle was ordered in 1990 and I received it in 1993.

those bullets will be stable in a 16, 18, and 20 twist barrels.
your 45x 3 1/4 is very similar to british express rifles, and they went down to under 300 gns.

I had a .45-3.25 and shot 300 grain swaged PP bullets for it. Powder burner is right they will strip at the velocity with that powder load of the 3-1/4 case full. I patched them to groove and used almost a straight WW alloy or monotype added to lead. They shot well patched to groove but tumbled patched to bore.
