Shiloh Front sight

Post by Steve Holt »

Front globe is a little loose, It’s Shiloh sight. You can feel it move more than see it. I understand it’s a two piece set up.
Looking down at the top of the barrel do I tap it out to the left or right or does it matter.

Steve, the only front sights shown on the Shiloh site are MVA. So far as I can see none of them are 'two' piece. I have only used MVA and all of mine have a very small Allen screw in the base which is used to tighten them up. When new the Allen wrench comes with the sight. If it is another make I'm sorry I can't be of any help.

The early globe sight that is a fixed pin rather then inserts has the globe attached to the base by the pin that is also a screw. Look carefully at the base and maybe you can see a mark from it being installed. When I put them in I always put them in from left to right.
A drop of lock tight at the base of the pin and the globe could fix it perhaps. Degrease first of coarse.

It’s a late Wolfgang gun.
A screw holds the globe to the base. It has loosened a little bit in the last 33 years.
I need to remove the whole sight so I can get to the screw and put a little loctite where it needs to go.
I spoke to Shiloh about this a while back and that’s the only way to make it right, just can’t remember which way I was told to tap it out.

To the hammer side out and hammer side in.
