2022 Texas Regional BPCR Silhouette Match Equipment List

Post by TexasMac »

Thought some of you, especially new shooters, might benefit from the equipment list from the 2022 TX Regional match. Along with the scores & sponsor list, the equipment list was submitted shortly after the match in late May to be published in the BPCR News. I don’t subscribe to the BPCR News so have no idea if the info was published in the summer edition or will be in the fall or winter editions. In any case see the following:

Wayne,
Just curious,
What gives with a number of the shooters
with replacement Green Mountain barrels in the same twist as the original Badger Barrels on their Brg BPCRs?

Arnie,

Unless I missed someone, I only see 2 shooters that have a Browning or Win. (Browning copy) with Green Mountain barrels. I know that Charlie Schroeder's Browning was not an original BPCR with a Badger barrel. I believe it was a limited edition sporter model, hence the reason his now has a Green Mountain .45-70 barrel. As for Glenn Ring, I'm guessing his original Win. with Badger barrel was a .45-70's which was rebarreled to .40-65 using a Green mountain barrel.

From my many (several hundred) discussions with Browning & Win. BPCR owners, by far the majority if not all without Badger barrels are due to changing to a different cartridge - typically going from .45-70 to either .40-65 or .38-55, or from .40-65 to .38-55.

Thank you Wayne.
Satisfied my curiosity
I should talk.
All my Browning BPCRs are rebarrelled:
Brg BPCR . 45-70 Badger barrel, FULL Octagon. Had been replaced by Lee Shaver . Original owner
did not know he should clean after BP loads. (I love the Full Octagon on these rifles.)
Brg BPCR, rebarrelled to 32-40 Remington, 8 twist. Lilja
Brg BPCR , rebarrelled to 38-50 Rem Hep, 10 twist Douglas Full Oct.
I am really liking this 38-50

I've had a couple of question about the velocity of my loads as noted in the above list. It's 1270FPS.
