so how fast can one get a 422 grain bullet moving with all blackpowder? about 1400 feet per second the ceiling? sounds like the hunters dream come true, whats the downsides. ??

1400 fps in prbably close. I've always used 450-550 grain bullets. 550's seem to be the most accurate in my gun. Remember that velocity cannot buy you accuracy and that 100 fps difference doesn't loose enough energy to worry about. Last year I watched a frien take an elk with the 50-70 carbine at over 200 yards. That elk couldn't get the ground fast enough. His load was a 450 grain bullet with 65 grains of swiss 1 1/2.
It was around 1100 at the muzzle.
