Mould for a 45-70 Shiloh Sharps

Post by Longhunter79 »

WEll I finally got one :D :D A Shiloh Sharps rifle. But now the work starts. My rifle is in 45-70govt. I need a mould that casts a heavy bullet. I will be shooting at heavy steel buffallo.(They roam the range here in the midwest) As far as I can tell the twist is 181/2. I have several 45 cal moulds but would like to shoot something heaver than I all ready have,(405gr) In the 500-535gr range. SO I need some help.

If you have so recommendations I would sure like to hear em.

Thanks,
Jon

Longhunter79,

OK, you asked for it  The Paul Jone's creedmoor in 540G. Check and you'll find that bullet has hit more steel around by the most shooters.

I will second what Kelly says and from a casters point of view there is not an easier mould to use than Paul's
It's time the long arm of the law put a few more in the ground

I borrowed some 540 grain Paul Jones Creedmoore bullets from Lee Stone, they really really work well in my rifle. As soon as I can I'm going to order one of his molds. I also like the Lyman 535 Postell.

Ken, I have a couple of NEI moulds, they work good, but got them before Walt's untimely death and the company was sold and moved. But their web page is www.neihandtools.com .

Keep your powder dry. Hope everyone is having a good Holidays.

Jon- Nice to see you here on the board. Hope to see you at the the Ackley, Ia. spring long range and buff shoot. I use the Lyman Postell about 530 gr. with some success in the Shiloh for the Buffalo. Regards steve witt l
