brent,
thank you for the endorsement.
it was an honour to meet you also, as well as watch you shoot.
also you did not bite.
i learned something doing so.
was impressed how you could come onto aim, and shoot decisively and boldly with accuracy.
hunters tend to shoot that way, where pure target shooters often take longer, looking for a better shot which probably won't happen.
also met dave gullo, who also impressed me as a human being and a shooter.
keep safe,
bruce.

... Clearly not :!:  ..Although Brent has met Gamerancher...so he's at least half prepared. Bruce ....as for waiting for the perfect shot... it has happened for me a few times....but each time they give my rifle back... all the perfect shots go away

Kind of looking at making my own but for a 45-70 barrel so I can maybe use a bigger camera scope and you have a lot of choices to choose from. I don't have a lathe (See video) but I already do a lot of things by hand just takes a little longer is all. Looks like a winter project.

I got the Lyman bore scope yesterday. It only took about 24 hrs to be delivered.

I had only 15 minutes to play with it, but I was able to get excellent images. Appears to be a great piece of equipment.

Bruce, it is very particular about how the camera is held. The view notch in the rod must be flush to the bore wall. It has basically zero depth of field.

If you haven't yet, put it in a .22 rimfire and see how it looks. the .22 bore will hold the rod exactly right. It's harder to do in a .45.

As stated before, use a couple of o rings, of the proper size, to keep the rod centered in the bore..........

In a.45 barrel, I find that some 7/16" neoprene washers hold it in the center very well, but it is a little too far from the bore wall for the best focus and lighting. I will make something that is off-centered so that the camera lens is closer to the barrel wall.

Pretty cool views. My barrel now seems perfectly clean. I wish I had this when I had the fouling issue two weeks ago.

The fouling issues will be back sooner or later :)
I use a couple o rings on my Hawkeye to keep it out of the fouling off the mirror if I run it in before cleaning.

Brent how long is the tube on your unit?

Kurt, the tube is about 20" long, maybe 22" I don't recall.

I don't know if the fouling will be back or not. Not sure where they came from or why my other rifles aren't showing them.

I have noticed some carbon build up in my .40-65 that shows up just in front of the chamber. I did some serious scrubbing with solvents and twill patches and got it cleaned out. This rifle with a tight chamber is a little short of powder capacity 64 gr max so I been loading it with out a lube wad and I don't know if this has a bearing on the build up or not but I have never seen this using lube wads in the other rifles plus I been loading this rifle with Swiss 1.5.
