Buffalo Arms Money Bullet

Post by charlie young »

Since the 535 grain in .458 seems to be forever out of stock am looking at the 540 in .459. Was just wondering what either of these actually fall from the mould at. I use 25/1 alloy. Thanks

Charlie have you called them and ordered the mould, it don't take long for them to ship a mould that shows out of stock on the web site.

Been a strange fall and winter. Went from dry and hot to cold and snowy, then warmed up, now it's spitting snow again..

Don, just got off the phone with BAC. Actually visited with Dave. He told me the reason some of those moulds are out of stock, is because Jim concentrates on making the most popular moulds. Evidently the .459 is ordered more than the .458 so they try to keep up with what people want. Anyway ordered one and its on the way....

Two Major Problems with BACO Moulds:

One: Hard to decide which one to get.

Two: It is way to easy to get them to shoot really, really well.

Seems to be a universal problem with them.

And 3, they start dropping perfect bullets in less time than some other moulds take to get to temerature... :D

While I cast with BACo money bullet molds with great success, I cast equally as well Steve Brooks molds. Being a fellow Montanan (is that the way its spelled?), the OP might want to check out Steve's offerings. Both deliver within a reasonable time.

SSShooter, what makes you think I don't have Brooks moulds? I've actually hung some hardware on the wall using Steves moulds and have visited with him quite often.

I just placed an order for a BA .392 PP mold.
I called and they said they are made there, and the lead time was 4 weeks, but you have to place an order to get it. so I did.
$150 get an order number.
I know they are good molds and just waiting for them to be back in stock is not the way to go...
You have to place the order. They even said they would cut it at .391.5 if I wanted. Almost...but I hear the .392 patched for the
Shiloh 40 70 SS at .398 will be best.

I agree Kenny, I will also add that everytime they told me 4-6 weeks, it showed up in about 10 days. Basically the "in stock" thing means that they will only make the "out of stock" ones if you order it. Great molds and a great company!

Well, I must say that I was more than pleasantly surprised, with my first casting from my BACO mould. Finally got warm enough to venture to the shop and heat up the pot. After it warmed to temp the weight consistency was right where I like it to be, but most importantly the bullets basically fell from the mould. Pretty impressed.

Charlie, have you considered 16-1 for the money bullet nose?

charlie.
whatever diameter will fill a fired case is what you want.
if you buy smaller it will bump up to that before it starts to move anyway.
whenever this happens, you have just done step 1 in the accuracy reduction chain..
keep safe,
bruce.
