Triple 7 in the .45-70

A friend has a quite bit of Triple 7 he wants to use in his Pedersoli 1874 Sharps.
He casts his own bullets with wheel weights and the mold is Lyman's 457125.
Has anyone any experience using Triple 7 they'd care to share.

Very limited experience (maybe 20 rounds) but it shot a decent group. It's pretty potent s*#t! As in; it kicks a bit harder and has a bit higher operating pressure than straight black.

The big thing is follow what it says on the can! No air gaps and no compression. Nothing other than what their directions entail, as they say pressures will go bonkers otherwise. Personally I've never confirmed that but I wouldn't want to either.

I never put it over the chronograph so I have no clue how consistent it was from shot to shot, what kind of velocities I was getting, ect. But it's recoil was a bit snappy and point of impact was a few minutes higher.

I've used it quite a bit but I use about 10% less. The triple seven seems to be a bit hotter. In my .45-70 Garrett Sharps as well as original trapdoors I use 60 grains (volume not actual weight). Shoots like 70 grains FFG
