Can the thicker rims be turned down to .067 without a lathe?

ideally the brass should be turned off the front of the rim.
this would be harder to do accurately without a lathe.

You could probably chuck it in a drill press and very carefully do it with a file. A lathe would definitely be better, but I understand sometimes you have to do things the farmer way.

If you have to thin the rims on brass, a lathe is the way to go. I have done this in the past for 45-70 brass that was to be shortened for the Uberti 76's. With standard brass it's not a difficult job, but if your going to do it with the reformed 348 brass it may be a little more difficult due to the way the brass rims are formed for the additional thickness. The hard part is to get the plate cut to center up the case head, Once that is accomplished, its a matter of setting up your tool and adjusting things till you have your cut set to the right rim thickness. From there its a simple in and out cut. the case can then be held directly in the 3 jaw chuck to remove any burrs with a file.
