Paper patched money & 1:18 twist

Post by firefighter1990 »

I'll keep this short and get straight to the point. I have a money bullet that I shoot in my 1:17 roller with great results. The pill is 1.5" long but is this too long for a 1:18 Shiloh barrel? Both guns are 45-2.6"

It will not be too long, it will shoot just fine.

Awesome thanks. I've ran the statistics on both the greenhill formula and the jbm stability calculators but supersonic and trans/subsonic flight are worlds apart. Lead and powder aren't cheap so I'm just making sure the juice is worth the squeeze with this combination of components.

firefighter,
the bullet has shot fine in my 45/2.4, but has not had a good test at 1000 yds.
the load has been 100 gns swiss 1.0 or 1.5., both breech seated or 0.1 to 0.125 in the case.
certainly at closer ranges it shoots like stink.
if in doubt try a bullet 1.450 to 1.460" long for 1000 yds in dirty conditions.
keep safe,
bruce.

Ya I'm about ready to buy a creedmoor paper patched mould that has an oal of 1.44" specifically for this rifle. But that's my plan B as of yet.
