Looking and making rough guess on the score of that possible target, probably a 121-1, the current NRA record for 15 rounds at 1000 is 136-2.

So on today's Long Range NRA Target that would be what?

About a 139-141 ? 8)

Target also illustrates the benefits of a centered group scoring well on a ring target.

I watched a very capable long range muzzle loader shooter fire from the recumbent position at Phoenix last month. 8)

in the real world, how many shooters today are likely to shoot a perfect score on the old 36" 5 ring bullseye.
not many i think!
going to that target would possibly be a good thing for historical reasons.
it would also be good because shooters would drop less points, and hence create greater reward.
this might make long and mid range more popular.
keep safe,
bruce.

Bruce I seen some good groupd at the Montana 1000 that would stay inside that 36" and also at Lodi I have seen all 10 shots inside the 9 ring that is 30"so it can be done.

The current NRA(UK) long range targets (and as used by the MLAIC for Long Range World Championships) are:

for 800-1200 yards

V - V Bull - 14.4" dia
5 - Bull - 24" dia
4 - Inner - 48" dia
3 - Magpie - 72" dia
2 - Outer - 96" dia
1 - Hit - 118" wide by 70" high

Aiming mark is 48" dia

UK targets are under review and likely to change end of this year.
