Now, re the bragging rights. Nice to do it once. GREAT!
But, do your bragging when you do it a second time and third time.

I know how you feel, got one in 2000 about 1" with iron sights and younger eyes, had it lamanated and keep it in my shooting box to remind me what can be done on a good day.

If I could have a target bronzed it would my 1000 yard target from the 1st day of the Creedmoor Cup match back in June of this year, 98-4X. Some times everything pretty much goes right, I have no idea why. That one beat my previous 1000 yard best of 94-4X from last fall at Lodi. Though I had the benefit of my son spotting for me last fall and that made it special in a way. The Cup match is of course no coaching and that was pretty special in a different way.

Then there are the other kind of days when I can't hit spit. Those targets get burned not bronzed!

Enjoy your success and build on it to do better next time. Well done! :D

Kenny that is a good start for sure.

We all try to get the best out of our rifles and it can be done with a little work.
I had Shiloh build me a bull barreled rough rider using my reamer I had cloned from a original 2.6 .44-100 Remington Hepburn. When I got it I went to the range with a box of 100 PP rounds to blow out the sized down cases so I used my .44 PP hunting bullets that will shoot dirty with out fouling control.
I shot that hole through the paper at 200 yards with just a occasional blow down the barrel. When I can shoot a 100 round 200 yard group like this with out using fouling control that is less then 4" with just 4 rounds straying out I would like to bronze it :D

This is what this rifle is capable of doing with a good scoped rifle working up ladder loads.
I kept this rifle in the white to help keeping it cool from the sun gets hot.

I should have mentioned that I shot both those 1000 yard targets with paper patched bullets. So they can shoot pretty well.

I don't have any 100 yard targets to brag about, I rarely shoot at 100 yards with my BPCRs. More useful information can be learned at greater distances. I do remember the days when a 4-5" 10-shot group at 200 yards was a big deal. I wish I still had some of those targets.

I agree about the 1000 yards. wish I had a longer range here in Florida, but I don't. at least not close to me.

DT I used to think the 1000 yard target was best for accuracy testing also but I don't think it is as good as 200 or 300 yards. There are just to many variables between the muzzle and the 1000 yard line that can push a bullet all over the place. If a load is unstable at 200 or 300 yards it will show up.

Wow, 94-4x and 98-4x are smoking 1000 yard targets! Very nice work :-). I'd go beyond bronzing the 98-4x. I'd build a special display room for it.

We all shoot a very good group now and then. A while back Bill (the RDNCK) down Texas shot a 5 shot group using his .45-70 at 410 yards I think is fantastic and I saved the picture so if I ever beat his group I would jab him a little :) but I don't think that I could ever do this with using barrel sights or for that matter a scope on a dead calm day.

Here is a close up that is worth getting put up in bronze.
Bill if you see this...…..I'm still working on it :D
