PP in 45-70

Post by mike herth »

Well, after two frustrating seasons of trying I believe I’ve found the right combination to get PP shooting in my roller with standard chamber Green Mountain barrel. Just over 3 inches vertical for 10 shots at 200 yards. Don’t know what took so long but I’m smiling now. 80 grains OE Fg and or OE 1.5 and .06 LDPE wad. Now to start fine tuning. Hope some day I can produce a target like that guy from Georgia!

If it were my gun I would stick with 1.5F, if not 2F. 1F will have more fouling. Try a over primer wad (I just cut strips from yellow note pad) it seemed to really tighten my groups. Whats your seating depth?? .080 should be plenty. Good luck!!!!!!!

Brian, did an email go out? I’ve been testing different PP loads in these gusty winds and making myself crazy. I’m looking forward to a couple more matches.

you should have gotten an email from Al on the 14th. If not we must have the wrong email address.
PM it to me and I'll see that you get on it.
