You can shoot abysmally and have fun (and I did). And you can shoot outstandingly, and still not win because the competition is tough. But, in the end, the real important part of Raton is having fun, seeing beautiful country, making new friends, spending quality time with old friends, and having memories for a life time. There is absolutely nothing like it - anywhere.

So, now you have it all. I do not have anything left with which to convince you to come to Raton in 2020. I hope all of you can come, and do so soon. I cannot say with confidence that the matches will be here, even 2 yrs from now. Even next year might be in question. If this is on your bucket list, just MAKE IT HAPPEN! DECIDE NOW, and DO IT! Kick the can down the road one more time, and you just might never be able to do it, ever.
I couldn't have said it better, Brent. This was my 20th year and I hope there will be many more. When I get home, I get nostalgic thinking of the good time I had.
Jeanne and her staff have this down to an art. I can not give them enough praise. I hope to see many new entries next year, so we can make even more new friends. :o 8) 8) 8) ....................

Woody...I just read all of this. shawnee is 20 mins from my house. I wish I'd have known I would have bought your breakfast. I'll PM my number to you. Put it in your pocket held rotary phone in the event you're in this area again.

Plastic fender, 10 feet of metal "J" side trim, all the metal and rubber trim inside the wheel well, and the trailer brakes on the passenger side. $600.00 in parts and $1400.00 in labor. I've got a $500 deductible. Ouch!!!!

Two years old. Ambient air temp was 97. The water tanks were empty, and the heavy stuff was in the truck. I was averaging 5 to 10 mph below the posted speed to limit heat build-up. Complete tread separation on both tires about six hours apart.

someone, somewhere, must sell better quality tires. Al says he gets about 2 yrs from his. One of which delammed right on schedule just as he arrived at the Whit so we were able to replace that before catastrophic blow outs.

My horse trailer gets about 1500 miles a year, but heavily loaded and driven hard in the heat every year. I do a bit better than that. 5-6 yrs maybe a bit more.

I had a 5th wheel that wore out a set of tires in less than 10,000 miles. I took it back to the dealership for them to check the alignment of the axels and they said they are good. When I got it home I dropped a plumb bob down from the hitch pin and measured the center of the spindles and they were off 3 1/4 inches. They would not listen so I called the manufacture and told them the problem and an hour later I got a call from the dealership telling me get that unit back in the morning. They replaced the fenders and wheel well and the tire wear ended.

Gladiator tires...…..especially the steel belted ones. Best trailer tire I have ever run. the steel belted ones makes you grunt to lift them for my 32' flatbed tandem axle trailer. 24,300 lbs. of hay plus the trailer. Run them on my 24' stock trailer, although they aren't the steel belted. NEVER had a failure. B.F. Goodrich, Toyo, and Nitto tires on the pickups.

Don't know. They were original to the trailer which is two years old. I've already replaced the other two original tires. Sorry.

A very good investment is a tire pressure monitor set which will let you know the instant you have a problem and then you can shut it down quickly and minimize the damage.

TP check in the am is part of my pre-trip before pulling out.
The monitor system is not a bad idea-Just with tread separation you have little to no warning when it lets go.
I also keep my tires covered when the RV is stored.
