Re: Primers
CCI br2 LR is my first pick. Fed match is a close #2.
I use a OPW at the bottom of the case made from white coffee filter paper.

Re: Primers
OK, I'll give my 2 cents. CCI BR 2 or Remington 2 1/2 LP. I get the same velocity, extreme spread, and SD with either. Two rifles have BP firing pins and so require a LR primer. Two rifles have modern small diameter pins and so can use the LP primers. No I don't use a primer wad. After testing, I determined that I couldn't tell the difference, so decided it wasn't worth the extra step. Years ago, after the Clinton scare and primer drought, I bought a case of Remington 2 1/2 LP, dirt cheap, and haven't looked back. Still using both. I would just use the CCI's, but the Remington's are significantly less expensive. I do have a case of Winchester LP primers I've just broken into and should see how they perform with BP.

Re: Primers
bpcr shooter..,is this wad placed at the bottom of the case between the flash hole and the powder or is it positioned at the bottom of the primer pocket?

Re: Primers
Ross, Yes, when I first started with BPCR, I used no wad. Then I moved to dropping a paper wad into the case
on top of the flash hole before charging the cases. Never any problems. good accuracy.
But, for years now, I have been using target paper( 0.005") wads cut into the primer pocket as I seat the F150/F150M primers.
I went that way on the prevailing theory to have the paper space the shorter LP primers more flush with the case head.

Re: Primers
I've always used LR Reg primers.
I just ordered a lot of Fed. 210 LR Match...regular
what does everyone think of Magnum vs. regular?

Re: Primers
We are not allowed to use duplex loads in the Silhouette game; so using a Magnum primer accomplishes the same thing, in helping to complete the burning of the powder and reducing the chances of fouling.

Re: Primers
bottom of primer pocket.....only reason I did it that way was it was quicker for me loading. I suppose I could try a few in the bottom of the case to see what happens.

I cut some paper when seating a pistol primer and got these gas cuts around the primer from the extra build up pressure cutting through the paper. I know it's hard to believe that the primer will generate enough heat in milliseconds to make those cuts but it happened.

Re: Primers
Mike I took the EZ way out. I quit putting paper in the primer pocket also under the powder. I saw no difference doing this.
That breach block only had 50 rounds shot with the paper in the primer pocket.
I also noticed a drag mark from the firing when the block was dropped from the pin stuck in the dent of the soft pistol primer cup.
and Gary before you ask if I pull the hammer to 1/2 cock before toping the breach........Yes I do......

Re: Primers
I'm wondering if your primer pockets are loose Kurt. Also it looks like the firing pin hole is peened outward and needs stoned up. Whats causing that!
