40-90 Ballard

Post by Skywagon »

I’m considering an original High Wall in 40-90 B and would like to know if anyone has had any experience with this cartridge.

I have not but am most interested in a 12" or 13" twist one for long range shooting.
I have obtained some 9.3x74 cases to experiment necking up.
these cases are available.

I have an original Ballard pacific in this cal. Did a chamber cast and measured the bore before I ordered my custom made brass. My gun takes the thicker everlasting cases nicely. Don't remember the twist for sure, but I think its 1 in 20". Nice rifle to shoot but brass is expensive so I only own 40 cases. I also have and shoot my Pacific in 40-85 which I reworked 40-90 sharps cases.....but still that's fairly expensive also. The 2 are different case lengths.
