cartridge case or box?

Post by coolhand »

Guys,
Since I started loading these long paper patch rounds for my 45-90 I found none of my ammo boxes are tall enough. Can someone point me to a case that will hold these rounds. BTW, my rounds finish out at approx. 3.5". Also interested in what you guys use for hunting? I have no need for a cartridge belt, but I do need a way to securely carry 4-5 rounds of these PP rounds in the field. Thanks

Shiloh sells boxes that will accommodate your long ammo.

case guard.....H-50-XL. I use them for my 45-100 PP.

if they are still too long take out the insert and use a drill to drill out the bullet support. then they WILL fit.

The ones Shiloh sells are very good :D The last time I drove through Big Timber I picked up a 200 round box. I’m not sure if woody is still building boxes but he built me a custom line box that will hold my .45-90 paper patched rounds

One more thing. If you are only dealing with a small amount of ammo, the J&J products slip cases hold 20 rounds base down. They are perfect for any of the longer bpcr rounds. they work well for my .45-100 paper patched rounds and even hold .50-140 base down. They are also much tougher than the mtm boxes

I just quit advertising. Both Shiloh and SPG sell my line boxes and I can make make sure your long loaded rounds will fit.

Thanks for the link to Berry's Mfg. My 412 boxes arrived today and they hold my 45-110 and 50-90's base down just fine. Good call!
