The Next BIG THING
So, these dual diameter paper patched bullets seem to be working pretty well. Is there anything else new for the 2020 season? What's going to take all the ribbons? Well, I got to thinking and realized there is more than just bullet diameters that can be doubled. So, here is my new secret weapon for this year.

Brent you've gone to 2 Fg Swiss for the solution? I haven't done that with any of my brass yet but I think I'll pass on it just like dual diameter bullets. bobw

bob,
you are missing out on the Dual Rage. It will take BPCR by storm. I'm sure of it.
And yes, I've switched to 2f. Mostly because the batch of powder that seems to work best for me is not available in 1.5 f.
One thing is certain, 2f meters MUCH better than 1.5 f. That's a nice convenience.

I like that secret shell but I think you compressed that 2F Swiss too much
Give some 3F Swiss in that little .40

Brent,
I believe you've hit on something. Now all firearm manufacturers need to do is to cut a slot in the breechblock to accept the new design and the extractor can be eliminated, which should reduce the cost of manufacturing. Better patent that ASAP.

Not an original idea. Look at the original Maynard. But with the added weight at the shell base, it's less liable to fall over on the loading bench. It may have some other obscure advantages, but I'm not ready to jump onto the double base bandwagon.

When Burt posted whatever that was he had there I remembered seeing this. It took me a while to find it, pretty interesting. I don't remember much about the rifle it was designed for, but for some reason it never was very popular with the shooters.
As long as it shoots paper patch it's all good!

A friend of mine (rest his soul) had one of those. "Single shot" rifle took on a whole new meaning.Distant Thunder wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 6:46 pm When Burt posted whatever that was he had there I remembered seeing this. Jim, who is this "Burt" guy? My dad? Sadly, long passed, and not much of a shooter really either.
But I do like this new dual cartridge. Now, if you loaded both ends with dual diameter bullets would it be a double dually or a dually^2 (squared)?
Man,there is a lot more creativity left in BPCR than I ever realized. Should be some awesome scores coming once the bugs get worked out of these new systems.

Griff,
Sorry to here about your friend. One has to be very care what new trends you fall in with!
That's .45 caliber and a combined total of somewhere around 140 grains of powder and 1060 grains of lead. However the recoil is said to have been hardly noticeable! At least no one has ever complained about recoil.

Sorry, Bret, must be a typo!
New ideas and inventions can be rather exciting, the dual end PP cartridge is probably more so than most! Especially that first shot!
