LYMAN BLACK POWDER GOLD BULLET LUBE
I'm using another well known/thought of bullet lube and I can't get the lead out of my bbl. I've used butches, bore shine, sharp shoot-r no lead and can't remember all the others. Only thing I haven't done is that GM cylinder cleaner. One of the bore cleaner guys I called suggested this Lyman lube. Don't mind trying it but wonder if can be melted for using the pan lube method. I really like that. I don't want to run them thru a lube/sizer. thanks

Are you wanting someone to recommend a bullet lube to stop your barrel from leading, or, are you wanting to know how to get lead out of a barrel?

Both. I'd rather not lead. Patches show white when I leave the range but I'm sure that's just powder fouling. Using 20:1 new alloy. Getting the lead out is a goal also. Don't really think it's that much of an accuracy issue. I can shoot one hole groups about size of a soup spoon. I just bugs me to have a 'dirty' barrel.

Strange, this subject keeps coming up and my advice is always try to determine the source of the problem before going in search of a solution.
Probably lube is not your problem. More information about your rifle, rifle barrel, caliber, twist, bullet, load, brand and type of powder, fouling control, description of the fouling, where it accumulates in the barrel and the size & shape of the particles, groove and bore dimensions of the barrel, diameter of bullet as loaded, etc.
Leading "could" even come from seating the bullet too far off the lands & Grooves.
More information will lead to better advice.

What makes you think you have lead in your barrel, or you just want to make sure you don't? Use a very tight patch and some lacquer thinner. I see people pounding the end of a cleaning rod with a rubber mallet to force a tight patch through the barrel to remove lead.

My bore scope shows the lead. I can clean copper fouling out of my BR rifles fairly easy. This lead is something different. It's a Shiloh Montana Rough Rider all factory. Shooting 60grs FF Goex 0.030 wad Lyman 457132 postell just barely not touching grooves. Shoots fine. I can't post pictures yet but was going to show some patches but they're really dirty. Orangey brown crud on the patches.

So i'll try the tight pact thing. I get a little squeamish on tight patches getting stuck or bending cleaning rods. Hadn't heard of the lacquer. Will try that too. thanks

Sounds like rust to me. How long do you leave your rifle sit before cleaning ?

10' - 15'. I clean at the range after I shoot. My go down and change targets. Not rust. This is with sharp shoot-r lead out. Don't get that color with other cleaners. Will post some pics after I get set up with a photo sharer.
