Spent Primers

Post by Glen Ring »

I think we all can agree that patches left at the range is unsightly trash.
We have noticed spent primers just dumped at the cleaning table area from folks doing their thing with their cases
We use a lee hand press to decap our cases and then empty the spent primers in a lined trash can.
It's not any trouble and sure makes the range look cleaner.

I throw mine in a bucket and once a year take them to the recycler. Along with my old brass. Its worth the trip usually

Not many of us shoot enough to sell used primers for scrap brass. I was afraid I was alone.....

I have another "34 oz" coffee can almost full again of spent primers.
They eventually go to the scrap yard when I am scrapping alum cans, etc

Remember ... center fire primers are brass, shot shell primers are ferrous metal. Don't mix together cause the recycle folks get annoyed

Recycle...that's a GREAT idea! I hate going to a range where the guys just leave their spent primers and patches all over the range.

Sell them on Gunbroker as "once fired" primers.

And dont forget to tumble them first. You will get more for shiny primers there

Recycling is a GREAT idea...I just wish some folks would not scatter them all over hell and half of Georgia when they are cleaning after a match.

Have to remember, you will not be paid pure brass price because they are an alloy

John,
Brass IS an alloy itself
payment for scrap brass is split between "Yellow Brass" and "Red Brass"
My primers are accepted same as and in with cartridge brass.

Have never decapped brass at the range. Wait till I get home, common curtesy.
