Im with you Robert on those triggers!! I too, have Tubb's in my bolt guns and Geissele in my high power rifles. good triggers can make a heck of a difference!!

I’ve heard many good reports on Tubbs match triggers, although I’ve never owned one in any of my bolt guns.
I remember the days of shooting with ‘worked’ Remington triggers when they were made with good steel, then came the 40-X triggers (same as), then Canjar had to get its’ name in the picture, Shilen’s, ‘worked’ Basics, etc. I finally settled with the adjustable Jewel triggers, and have used them to this day in 80% of my bolt rifles. Lots of water under the bridge since I started centerfire bench competition.
Just a short story if you will...From my youth I always wanted a genuine Remington 40-X single-shot (single-shot action) target rifle in 6MM Remington with their 27 1/4”, 1:12 twist barrel for a ‘crow-busting’ rifle. I called the custom shop at Remington Arms to place my order. I asked if they still made the action that had their 40-X logo ‘rolled’ onto their receiver. They said, “No, we used up all of those old actions. We now stamp the logo onto the action.” I said, “Thanks you, and goodbye.” The next day they called me and told me they had found an action in the back of the shop boss’ desk drawer. But, it had a ‘glitch’ in it, as the bolt locked into place to be fired. I said, “Build it for me, and send the rifle to Dan Dowling; he’ll welcome the challenge.” And, they did. Dan went to work, then sent it to Tom Meredith to pillar-bed the action. It’s a shootin’ machine. It’s given me a bucket of trophies. It was this young man’s dream-come-true to own an old 40-X Rangemaster. It’s seen a lot of action. It’s due a setback, but it still shoots just the same with the bullets set at .010” off the lands!
Dan Dowling built me some fine match rifles!

When I read that someone shoots a good group I inquire how they did it so I can get better groups. When you shoot good groups posting the product of all your hard work is a good thing so most of us can try new things.
Just a couple of weeks ago Jeanne and I tried a new load in her 40-65 and we were amazed at how a little change could make such a big difference at 200 meters in her rifle.

Keep on posting your successes..We all ( most that is) learn something new every day...especially from credible sources such as yourself.

among my rifles are a win m70 and a dakota 76.
years ago i rang jewells and spoke to arnie jewell himself.
he sent me 2 triggers for these rifles, even though they were not normally made for them.laws have changed now and it is not so simple to get stuff like that in oz.
those triggers have never missed a beat.
using a jewell in my fclass rifle means same trigger feel whatever i shoot in smokeless, a great aid in practicing.

there used to be available a modern version of the borchardt and it had a canjar trigger.
neither of course now available.
i recall les bowman had one, but can't for the life of me remember who made it.

I cheated when I shot those groups. I sandbagged the rifle on the bench and put a MVA scope on it.
I seldom shoot this 2.6 straight .44 Shiloh rough rider because it's just to darned heavy. It has a 35" straight untapped round barrel 1.3" thick. and I used a reamer I had a cast made from an original Hepburn but changed the bore diameter to a .438 but kept the shallow lead angle of the 4º funnel it had.
I used it at the Quigley one year and shot a 38 with it but it was just to heavy to hold off hand on the bucket and only hit 2. It also tipped the gun cart over 3 times backwards.
I just don't like that rifle and seldom shoot it, but it does fine for a over the log rifle.

It's the fifth rifle from the left. I had the barrel left in the white to help reflecting the sun's heat.

I just got then cleaned. I clean and re oil them several times a year and they all get shot. They are not safe queens.
