Fell into this from a shooter who is no longer shooting, a case of Lapua Center X, a brick of Lapua Midas Plus, brick of RWS 100, three boxes of Elley Match from CMP and three bricks of Federal LR primers all at an "ok" price. Nothing like Gunbroker prices. Since I didn't need them I sold them at the last Smithmoor Winter Series Match. That helped out folks who needed them. Limited the Center x to two bricks and the primers to one brick. If we all look around for what we really don't need for the shooting season or even beyond, say 18 months, maybe those who are in need will be able to shoot. Just my 2 cents.

Yes. People are paying such prices. I was at the range on Tues-- 1/19 -- and heard two Fellow Shooters mentioning they paid US$100.00 for a brick of 5000 primers last month.

If I found a brick of 5000 primers of any size for about US $70.00 each, my next stop would be to buy a Lotto ticket hoping my luck still held out!

Ray, I'm up here north of the border. We call a 1000 pack a brick so maybe my price is not as good as I thought.

The last few years prices are up a fair bit. CCI BR2 are maybe $70-75 USD per 1000 when you can find them. My local gun shop seems to have them in stock maybe twice a year. Federal Match LR primers are a few bucks cheaper usually and more available. The Federal Large Pistol match are nearly non-existent where I live. I find them maybe once every two years.

Bricks are $40-$70 here depending which retailer. Match primers I'm seeing closer to $50-$80 in stores. My advice is to shop local. I have seen the darkside of online shopping recently and none of us are that fast. So find a brick and mortar store or start trading components with friends.
Cody had a little trade and swap recently at one of his matches. I think that is a good idea.

Where in the world can u buy a brick of primers for $40-$70? Curious minds want to know. I think the last brick in NE Montana was sold in September.

Scheels and Sportsmans Warehouse seem to be getting them more consistently than any other stores around me in Colorado. Seems at least once a week. I have seen some at the local ranch and feed stores too outside the city.
It is a be there when they open kinda deal though.

I make it a point to advise the folks selling primers at $200.00 a brick, that I will remember their price gouging and will tell everyone I shoot with about their actions during these times.
I shop at a couple of VERY small gun shops that have been in business for decades. They haven't tried to take advantage of shooters and they will always have my business...and I make it a point to tell them that's one of the reasons I am loyal to them.

If my memory serves me correctly, smokeless cannister powder, most handgun brass, most primers, most pistol and revolver bullets, some rifle bullets more or less went missing about the same time. I doubt that many people buying guns for the first time also bought reloading equipment and components. I doubt the scarcity of components was "ALL" the forces of supply and demand in the economic sense. Not to mention loaded ammunition.

I hear you, I have a case of 215m's and dont need them....what I need is 210's but the only way to get them is to sell them for ridiculous prices so I can get the 210's. If I could, I would sell them for the $47 I have invested, and buy the 210's but thats just not possible anymore, and I hate it but what am I to do?? Heck I even offered a 1k 215's and $50 for 1k 210's and I got a..... No thanks!! My only hope is that it calms down so I can afford to shoot and keep the sport alive!!!

If I had 210 primers I'd give them to you or swap EVEN for the 215m. People always remember folks that help them. I gave a pound of powder and 500 primers to a bud. It's good to help good people

If you are as smart as you think you are hang on to the 215m 's use them if need be. For as little difference in the group size from 1 to the other is insignificant compared to not having any at all. It 's a personal thing if you want to help someone out with reloading components they don't have because they didn't care enough about it to keep stocked up. Don't believe me for a second , go back and reread Tasmanian Rebels' and desert deuces' posts again until it sinks in. The day one can buy what one wants, when one wants and for how much you want to pay are GONE. With leftists in power I don't see it coming back either. bobw

I fear that BobW is on to it. It's already started:

"H.R.127 - To provide for the licensing of firearm and ammunition possession and the registration of firearms, and to prohibit the possession of certain ammunition."

Introduced by Rep. Jackson Lee, Sheila (D-TX-18 on 01/04/2021. Text of the bill is not yet available. For those Not-In-The-Know this bill was introduced on the first day of the new congress.

"Bills are generally sent to the Library of Congress from GPO, the Government Publishing Office, a day or two after they are introduced on the floor of the House or Senate. Delays can occur when there are a large number of bills to prepare or when a very large bill has to be printed."

I've seen this happen with other legislation I was interested in following. And it would not surprise if there has been a large number of bills presented to take advantage of the newly elected (??) president's 100 day or so traditional political honeymoon with congress.
