Re: Old timers black powder
Nice! thanks for posting this. I think videos that show the basics are GREAT! I have both of those books and re-read them often.
My just turned 13 Grandson shot his first BPCR Silhouette match last weekend. I showed him the basics of primer, powder, wad and bullet. He loaded and made sure to use that round for his last round of the day. All the complicated tweaking and witch doctoring can come later. He has the basics down, can load ammo now and just has fun shooting . He just shot an 8 but had fun with his grand Parents shooting, cutting up and having a pic nic at the range.
Back to basics ...having safe fun.

There are those that talk, and those that act. Make a choice.

He's wrong about the need to drop the annealed case in water.
Also, no reason to crimp the case for a SS rifle.

If one is looking for some good reading material concerning the cowboy era I highly recommend the book in this link.
http://www.4-hwesternheritageproject.or ... -book.html
It was edited by Todd Kesner, the fellow in the above video. It's a treasure trove of life in the American west with many excellent photos of guns, leather and such. It's a labor of love with all proceeds going to the Montana 4-H shooting sports program. I made his acquaintance while I was a 4H shooting sports instructor when my kids were young.

I know water does nothing in the annealing process, but does allow one to simply drop cartridges with no risk of denting neck.
