Unexpected Results

Post by High Desert Hunter »

So I took some good advice concerning adding .030" to my overpowder wad bringing it to .060". Well one thing I did not count on was the apparent "spring back" from the extra wad. I compressed the powder and seated the bullets to the normal OAL, and when I was looking at them the next day, 20 of the 30 had "sprung back" about the distance of the additional wad, the lube groove was partially visible on them.

Air, trapped air pushed them back up a little. I have that a lot and give them a light push down with my press and sometimes no my thumb.

I'm sure they will shoot just fine, just kind of surprised me.

When you compress, do a slow 5 count before lowering the ram.
