Good buffalo hunting article in Black Powder Cartridge News

Post by pete »

In the newest edition (#42) there is a good article by John Hansen about buffalo hunting. John manages Ted Turner's buffalo ranches in Nebraska and has alot of experience with buffs. We went there two years ago and we're going again this year. He covers several aspects of the subject relating to bp cartridge rifles and muzzleloaders for buffalo as well as other side issues about buffalo hunting and hunters.

It is a very good article. I think reading it provided some of the impetus that is making me want a .50/90 for my next Shiloh. Providing I can find a source of brass.

Grilled some bacon buffalo burgers tonite with the bacon grilled along side the burgers. Real good if I do say so myself.

Lee that 50/90 would make a buffalo thumper that's for sure. A friend wants to use his muzzleloader this year. That's if he doesn't change his mind. The Sandhills ranch is nice because the animals aren't "tamed" by alot of human interaction.
