I have a lever return spring, a screw to hold it in place, two firing pins and a firing pin spring in there in a small plastic bag. Rolled up it takes up the space.

The wood to metal fit on the patch box and inside where the butt plate is is just great too.
I guess if somebody wanted to carefully try a Dremel tool the compartment could be made a little bigger. But I wouldn't do it though. Imagine if that thing slipped or jumped. :cry:

God made chisels and dremel tools for two different reasons. The first is for gunmaking, the latter is for landfills.

I would not change a thing. I guess you could chisle it out some but it might make it structurally weaker

Black powder experiments show that it shoots best with a full 70gr of Goex Cartridge. Just barely fits in the case and must really be compressed. But it shoots great with very little fouling.

I never get tired of seeing how well Shiloh fits there wood to metal! You just can't find a better made gun! MD
