Wounded bison injures hunter
- The Associated Press
Jackson Wyo -Teton County Sheriff Jim Whalen says a hunter had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital after he was charged by a wounded bison.
Whalen said the hunter apparently shot the bison Saturday near Shadow Mountain, but as he approached the animal it got up and charged him. Whalen says a companion of the hunter shot and killed the bison after it charged.
Whalen said he believed the man suffered a fractured hip and other injuries, but additional details were not immediately available.

Sheer stupidity.
This quote comes from the article link above regarding the wounded hunter:
"The hunter had the guns and ammunition. Because Campbell and Filveck were guides, they weren’t carrying loaded guns."
Now fellas, this is sheer stupidity that could have and should have been prevented. Mature buffalo can weigh 2000-2300 or more, and the article states the hunter was after a record book buffalo with a .500 Smith & Wesson. It is sheer stupidity and consequently a lack of preparation the guides did not have back up rifles in case something like this happened. They are not going after Bambi, or elk for that matter, and you don't have to be Phi Beta Kappa in Animal Behavior to understand a wounded 2000+ pound buffalo can be a dangerous animal. If a 150 pound wounded hog is a dangerous critter, and they are, then it goes without saying so is a large buffalo, or any buffalo for that matter. The guides are at fault for this one, 100%, and no one else's opinion, viewpoint, or explanation will change how I feel about it except that you could add the hunter should have waited longer and been more cautious in approaching/circling the wounded buffalo for a kill shot, and the guides should have coached him on it.

GST, I think you are confusing charging bison with women. What kind of women have you been going out with?
