Dean, it was a tuff shot, 75 yards, the conditions were brutal, 45F and a light breeze!
I got invited to a customer's hunting camp so natch I took the 50, these boys had never seen a blackpowder gun , much less a Sharps, when I touched off the 90 grains of 1f at dusk it was, well it was a beautiful thing, a holy moment, the folks in the surrounding counties will be talking about the boom for years to come!

FFG--Nice deer! Looks like you are off and running with the rifle. A shot at dusk with one of these is definitely show time, especially if it puts meat on the ground. I swear it looks like the whole world is on fire! Congratulations. Shoot straight, rdnck.

FFG, more details, please. Bullet, where hit, did bullet go thru, reaction of deer (go right down, or how fat did she go), etc. I'm wondering what to expect if I ever see one to shoot with my .50-90.

Well, it was more of a target load, 650gr Hoch Postell looking bullet, 90gr 1f
Schuetzen black powder,. It is a very accurate load, the bullet hit her just behind the right shoulder and exited through the left flank passing diagonally through the old girl, I thought I had missed when I saw dust hit behind her, she took off running and covered about 50 yards before running out of deer power. Not exactly a trophy hunt, but heck it cost zero and I had a great time.

Heck, nothing wrong with any of that! That's usually exactly how they react when I double lung them with a .270 or 06. I even broke one shoulder and got both lungs on a buck last season with the .270, and he still went 40 yards like nothing was wrong with him. I'd like to know what they are using or where they are hitting these deer on these hunting shows that stiffen and drop in their tracks.
