Kurt,
Approximately how much meat did you take home out of that buff?

Dick said I had about 360 pounds of boneless meat in my 2 year old I took home.
I had my first ribeye last night and it sure was good.

Kurt,
I been thinking about a hunt like yours. Bison meat from a supplier in my area runs about $17.95 for choice cuts. Even buffalo berger is in the $8.00 neighborhood. It does taste good and is good for you.

It just never entered my mind what the cost of the meat over the counter or getting it hunting would equate. I will take the hunt anytime

When the freezer gets low I will be looking for another one

Just read your story, Kurt. Congatulations on a good job. You are set for some good eatin' for sure. Mountain men, legend has it, had a saying, "Cain't nuthin shine with painter meat". I've had both (buff many times) and I'll take buff any time :)

Kurt,

Those PP bullets, are they pure lead or are they a mix?

I collect original paper patch cartriges and I brought them into work where we have a positive material Identification gun and all bullets were of pure lead.

Thanks Jim

Jim.

I cant say for sure now that I cleaned out my coat pocket if I used a 1/20 or 1/25 RN. I got them mixed.

One thing for sure I did not spoil any meat a clean shot in and out doing it's job and never hit any bone so I suspect the bullet did not expand any from looking at the exit hole that I could just get my finger through.
The next hunt I will go back to using the 1/40 like I use for Deer.
This is the bullet I ued.

Jim.

I would liked to have recovered the bullet to see how it expanded. If there would have been snow on the ground I would have pulled out the metal detector and looked for it.
But your right, a good placed shot and they wont go far.

Kurt,

Congratulations! Looks like you folks had a good time. Try not founder on that good meat.

See you in the spring, somewhere.
