50-90 Deer

Post by alans49 »

Well I took my new 50-90 out hunting this year and never saw a good buck. Our Wisconsin anterless season open on Thursday so I thought I would go out and try to get some venison for the freezer. I had several doe come buy at 70 yards and I picked out a nice big one and dropped her in her tracks. She weighted 122 pounds field dressed. Needless to say I am quit happy with the rifle. First shot at game and a clean kill. Shot with a .473 grain pure lead paper patched bullet. Life is good.

Alan,

Congratulations! That rifle looks really nice (like everything about it). Can you tell what kind of expansion that bullet had? Just curious.

Congtrats. Very nice deer and rifle. 122 lbs. field dressed is a good sized doe. Uh, I mean full figured. Gotta stay sensitive to the females.

NICE.
I absolutely envy the wood on that rifle.
You posted a pic of it a while back on the forum. I liked the way it looked so much that I copied the picture and sent it to Lucinda to use as an example of what I wanted on my business rifle (my field hunting peach).
Kirk picked out a nice piece of wood for me very similar to the dark stripes on that rifle- the $50 hand select is worth the money if you know what you want.

Nice Doe too.
Thanks for sharing the pic.
