Eagle Hunting

Post by semtav »

Guess this would be a hunting story of sorts

I didn't get to see the dive, but when I came along an Eagle was about 20 yds out in the river swimming to shore. Doing the breast stroke and having a hard time of it. Took me a bit to figure out what was going on but I watched til he made it to shore. Left and when I came back a short time later, three young uns were feasting on a large fish and the Bald Eagle was off a bit watching like a proud parent !!

They go swimming all the time in Southeast Alaska. We had a pilot stop and yard one out of the water about a mile from shore. He put it on the float and taxied to shore and the bird just sat there until it got close. It then hoped off and went on its way. Jim
