Has anyone done a Sharps Grand Slam? Not that I could afford such an endeavor barring winning the lottery, but it would be a worthy goal.

I gotta believe it has yet to be done.

Being somewhat impoverished in comparison, I am going to opt for the Grand Slam of Squirrels with a Rifle. Seriously. It has been done with a shotgun, but never a rifle.

I don't think I am likely to choose a Sharps.

Brent you could use a 22 liner in a Sharps. Then could kill two firsts with one rifle.

I could, but I won't. I'll leave that to you. I'll use a custom .22 low wall instead, thanks.

Naw that's ok. It looks like a neat goal for somebody but I've got no .22 liner, no squirrels and no desire. Good luck on your quest though.

A Grand Slam on Squirrels? Now that is an interesting idea. Who has done it and with what and what species are considered to be required?

Jerry, an Arizona game biologist did it in one year and wrote an article about it in Field and Stream. I have bagged halfvof them in my lifetime, but when I retire, this is one that will happen, maybe several times.

Pacecars, I only recall three species in Florida, Gray, Fox and Flying. Not sure all are legal game these days.

The Gray should be very common in Leon County but for Fox you may have to travel and I don't ever recall seeing a live Flying Squirrel during daylight hours.

We have a unusual black headed squirrel that has showed up this fall picking up chestnuts in the yard here. Never seen one like it.

Kurt, fox squirrels and grey squirrels both come with partial and complete melanism color phases. We often have partial black fox squirrels here. They are black on the belly usually. We have also had a handful of white (but not albino) fox squirrels on campus for couple of years.

Across the country, there are squirrel species and subspecies at are off limits for being endangered. Most of the ones I know of are in Southern Arizona, but out east, the Delmarva Fox Squirrel on the Maryland/Delaware peninsula is one of them I believe. There may be others.
