This norning at coffee I saw some elk coming out of a draw above the house. Binos came out, then spotting scope for a visiting nephew and his wife, then I finally got out a camera.

20 large bulls all in one herd !!

The herd split up. 12 this morning. I don't know how many others, but I only saw one way down by the house. Probably less than 300 yds from the house. The dog started barking when he got a smell and the elk turned and fed away from the house and behind trees from my view.

Hey Rick, the wines ready to bottle !!

Just a lone coyote this morning. First dog I've seen in several months. I think the wolves that pass through have thinned them out.

For those of you who don't know Gussy, he brews some wines extraordinaire!! I am drooling just thinking about them. Those wolves would be cool to hear howl on a crispy morning.........all my clients tell me they are death on the wildlife however.

12 bulls again this morning. I'm surprised, but all still have horns. :?:

You're a lucky guy to have those views.

3 coyotes this morning but they hid behind some trees and I didn't get a shot. One brave soul tried chasing a bull elk that had been hanging around the house. It was going well until the bull stopped and faced him. He turned tail and ran... didn't get a shot at him either. But...... the bull had lost his horns and I'm going elk hunting later today, horn hunting that is.

Found one shed and I'm pretty sure it was the one the coyote was chasing. The one hanging around by the house had an odd rack and I found the odd side. He never was with the herd I saw.

I can't help but wonder if this guy who was injured a couple years back is the same elk. He was on my lawn for a day and a half, couldn't care less about my Lab. They even touched noses once !!

He was right back by the house yesterday. Went right back to where he'd been living.
