on Cape Cod, where I lived for years, a BEAR crossed the canal bridge, and made it's way up the 90 miles to Provincetown.
It actually came across my property.

they gave it a name, made T shirts, etc. tracked it's progress.
when it arrived in P Town, a tourist town, a family from NY, (you know, high appt. buildings, cabs, liberals, etc.) saw the bear, and had their two little kids 'go stand near the bear so I can take your picture!" said MOM....

they lived....
I guess New Yorkers don't have much hunting experience. or common sense.....

Here in Iowa, they would have just shot it. It is always open season on bears. Pretty sad actually.

Had a full grown, mature bull show up at my residence one day. He had gone on a "walk-a-bout" and ended up at the end of my drive. I was sleeping, (on night shift at the time), when daughter #2 came screaming into the room yelling something about a buffalo in the yard. Seems like the local Police Dept., Colorado State Police, and Sheriff's Office,(my co-workers), had decided that my corral would serve to hold said bull. My horses took one look at him, and were not impressed. They decided to go on a "walk-a-bout" of their own. The lead mare made a horse size hole in my four strand fence and all of the others except my best old mare disappeared. We kept mister bull happy with some fresh hay while the owner deployed a black plastic sheet around him and slowly contracted the space until he willingly loaded into the stock trailer. I took my old faithful mare and she showed me where her mates had hidden and after a Vet had checked out the escape leader all was fine, except my sleep.

I have been outside the squeeze chute when bison calves were being vaccinated. The energy and strength of those babies is impressive!!

we all want to enjoy the National parks. but.......
we were at Yellowstone a few years ago, and were told NOT to get close to the Buff....
especially when they are next to the lodge and 'cornered'
saw a 10 year old kid, trying to push the beast....while Mommy tried to take his picture.

OK....NY cocktail party person, who is willing to tell us how to live and vote.....

I'll go sit down now....

I think he did not do this intentionally, he put himself in the situation unconsciously and the course of the game went on itself.

The fact that earlier people had been throwing rocks at the buffalo needs to be considered. Agitated animals are unpredictable.

A couple of years ago, I was sitting right where I am now. My dogs were barking at something in the driveway, but I ignored it. Finally I decided to check into it. It was our resident cow moose and her calf.

I went out to lead the dogs away but that exited the dogs even more she charged from 15 yds away. I tried to make it to a large tree but she caught me with a front leg and tossed me like a bowling pin.

I landed flat on my back, looking up her nose. The thought going through my mind was - "This really gonna hurt!". The dogs immediately started to nip at her hocks and she simply ignored me and left with her calf.

We often encounter bears and moose when walking our dogs. We give them wide berth and the dogs stay with us. This time the moose was agitated and I should have taken that into consideration.
