2018 Jim Gier Memorial Schuetzen Match

This is where you can place your scores from the matches. It uses an excel spread sheet! If you send me your sheet of scores I can put it on the forum and provide a link where everyone can view it.

2018 Jim Gier Memorial Schuetzen Match

Post by Del » Sat Dec 29, 2018 7:38 pm

I am finally back from Christmas traveling and have documented the scores from this years Jim Gier Memorial Schuetzen match. We had 38 shooters this year, 20 iron sight and 18 scope. The weather was great with sunny days and almost no wind. The competition was good as were the sausages. Old friends and some new were there and a good time was had by all. Definitely something to put on your Bucket-List to do some day if you haven't made it happen yet!

The scores can be found here: http://www.mtbpcr.com/2018gier.html

Thanks for posting Del! It was good to see you and the rest of the Montana crew. I had a good time and hope I get to go back.

I would like to make that match some day. Is it the same time each year, more or less?

Second weekend in December each year. Anyone even remotely interested in Schuetzen should make the time to go. The range, the schuetzen house, the people, the atmosphere all must be experienced to be appreciated. You can almost feel the ghosts in the building as you shoot. There are definitely other great schuetzen matches still going on around the country, but this one is truly something special. Hope to see you there next year Brent!

Always the second weekend of the month of December... Would be good to see you make it. If you can come we can shoot together. Butch increased the relays to three so a group of three can shoot together which works out pretty well. The only issue is the Schuetzen House gets pretty crowded but nothing that can't be dealt with. We had 38 this year and he can take up to 48. Would be great to see you make it!

Those ghosts that have you on edge are some of the Ladies of the Evening out of Butte that used to work the small cabins out back of the main lodge back in the day!

It would be ridiculous to drive that far for a schuetzen match. So, it sounds like something I ought to do. Maybe I could bring Gus and we could chase a few birds along the way. Just have to start thinking creatively.

Cody, If I'm not mistaken that is your second time in a row at the top of the leader board. Congrats, that's a tough crowd to beat and you did it handsomely.

Happy New Year one and all.

That makes sense. Probably the only time either one of all held a steady job. :)

Thank you Paul! Truth is, I just got lucky. Keep an eye on Kevin Ericksen, he is relatively new to schuetzen and has been steadily improving. I have a feeling he is really going to be tough next year. Nice guy too, it was fun to meet and visit with him as well as the rest of the guys and Jen.

Happy New Year!
