AZ. STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SCORES

Post by Steve Rhoades » Sat Nov 17, 2012 6:37 am

As posted, the Friday winners were Chip Mate (AZ.) in Iron Sight with a 33X40 and Doug Gazaway (GA.) in Scope with a 34X40.
Several shooters including Chip rung some rams which is really unusual at the Ben Avery range especially in the conditions were are having.
High chicken shooter for the day was Kenny Durham with 7. Kenny was still disgusted as he shot more chickens than rams!
The wind was so calm that smoke lingering along the shooting line became an issue later in the day. The high for the day was 75 deg.
We are expecting the same conditions for the remainder of the match much to the delight of the competitors from the northern states.
I was hoping the warm temps would give everyone a chance to see Mike Venturino, Snake Hips Tompkins and Butch Ulsher in shorts for the first time.
I'll try to remember to take a picture of the score board today and post it sometime this evening.
Today we host the BBQ after the match along with the drawing for prizes so I'll also post the winners of the Shiloh rifle and the MVA scope later as well.
Kirk Bryan and his sister Lucinda are shooting the match and will officiate the drawing and presentation of the rifle.

OK Steve, it's Sunday and the match is over, where are the results. Inquiring minds want to know. I want to know too.

If you guys had been watching the Rhoades web cam, you would know all about the minute by minute action at the Southwestern regional.

Not that web cam...the other one.

I talked to Doug Gazaway last night and he said Chip Mate won the Iron sight part comfortably by 5-6 points shooting(I think) a 33 and a couple of 32's and the scope match was won by a Tx shooter whose name escaped him. Doug with his usual dry humor said his scores looked like an upside-down triangle getting worse each day and finished 3rd Master I think.

Wow, some great scores considering the challenging visibility reported by some. Congrats to Chip and Jay for their wins, they certainly rose to the challenge and put down some solid scores.
