Weather finally cooperated (we got to shoot). Started the match with mild breeze (5-7mph) and essentially clear sky. But, as is usually the case, as we moved to the 600yd line those nice, big, fat, fluffy white clouds moved over and winds started kicking up to 10-14 with no reliable direction. A beautiful spring day. Congrats to Paolo (who tied the Nat'l agg record last time out) as the high score, and Pete, who was shooting his first with BP match.

2014 Eastern Regional & NJ State BPTR Mid-range Championship. Beautiful day. Clear skies and 70F start with 2-4 mph breeze. But, as is usual, around noon the big, puffy white clouds started moving in and the breeze moved up to a variable 8-10mph just in time to move back to the 600yd line. Excellent match today with very tight competition in Prone, with 3 shooters a point apart for the top three places. Congratulations to the match
winner, Bob Picard, for his fine 274-3X, followed by Art Ruggerio with a 273-3X and Jay Brower with a 272-4X. The position match was won by
Vince D'Alessandro with a 262-6X.
The day started out cool, partly cloudy with a light breeze. As the day progressed the clouds got thicker and the breeze more variable. By the time
we got to the 600yd line it was raining very lightly, making it a bit difficult to see well with iron sights. Nonetheless, some good scores were fired at
the long-line.
Next match on October 26.
The tentative match schedule for 2015 is March 29, April 26, May 30/31 (60-shot Eastern Regional), Sept 13 & Oct 11.

Final match of the year on a beautiful, sunny, quite blustery day. Started the match with about 10mph of variable wind and it continued to build to about 20mph by noon. Made 600yd quite 'interesting'. Finished at ~2:45 and got the range cleaned up and had our hoagie-fest at the picnic tables behind the 600yd line. A good time was had by all and looking forward to the matches in 2015. Congrats to Vince & Ralph for their 1st & 2nd in position and to Glenn & Carl for their 1st & 2nd in prone.

First match of the 2015 BPTR Mid-range season brought out 13 hardy souls in the 23F, breezy & sunny conditions. Under a mostly cloudless sky, the winds were mild at 200yd and starting picking up as we moved back to 300yd. They continued to built and the first two relays at 600yd suffered with an 8-15mph wind that would switch 90+ degrees for a couple of minutes at a time, making waiting out the shift a problem. The wind then dropped back to something reasonable for the last relay. A great time was had by all and congratulations to Paolo for his "position" win and to Ernie for his "prone" win. Next match is April 26th.

Congrats to PaoloA and ErnieB for their position/prone wins. They are starting to get a 'run for their money' from the other shooters, so will be interesting at the next match. Good to see that all shooters are now "on" at 600yd. Scores should go up accordingly as more experience is gained.

The weather was very nice with mostly sunny skies and the occasional cloud floating by and mid-80s for a high. Plenty of wind, but primarily down-range. With the hot & dry weather we've had for the past 10 days, the mirage could be tricky to read at times and not very consistent.

Congrats to Paolo Amedeo, repeat match winner in position, and John Haagen, the prone winner. Fine shooting in some windy conditions.

Also, congrats to this year's NJ State Champion's, Vince D'Alessandro in position and Ernie Bennett in prone, both repeating from last year. Again, fine shooting gentlemen.

In addition, Jay Brower set a new 200yd prone range record with a 100-6X, John Haagen set a new 300yd prone range record with a 98-3X and Ernie Bennett set a new 600yd prone range record with a 95-0X. Great strings.

Barry Ranney, the NRA's Silhouette/Black Powder Competition Director was at the match and provided engraved medals for the first three places in both position & prone and regional match pins for all competitors. Barry was helpful in answering any and all questions and even pulled targets in the pit for several relays as well as providing chips (think salt) for shooters on the line.

All competitors were treated to a hoagie & drink after the match and everyone won at least two (2) prizes in the drawing from the following donors. Please support those who support our sport.

With a forecast of rain and several family issues of one sort or another, we only had five (5) shooters for yesterday's match. Turned out to be a beautiful late summer day with scattered clouds and mild breezes (rain started at 2 p.m.). Mirage was ugly at 600, but we were enjoying lunch by noon. Congrats to MD'Alessandro for the win in the only 'class' that had more than one shooter.

What a beautiful day for a match. Cool start, but with bright sun it warmed up quickly and layers were soon peeled. Just enough breeze, mostly in our face, to make the smoke a non-issue. We shot 2-relays and were having lunch at the picnic tables by 1 p.m.

Just checked and Paolo's 93-1X is a new range record for 200yd position. He has been shooting well this season and has 2-master scores in BPCR. One more chance this season next weekend at Shippensburg.
