2017 World Championships Australia

This is where you can place your scores from the matches. It uses an excel spread sheet! If you send me your sheet of scores I can put it on the forum and provide a link where everyone can view it.

2017 World Championships Australia

Post by Kurt »

Brent just posted the Championship matches. Sounds like some very rough conditions and very hard holders competitors to shoot against.

kurt,
the conditions that day were not too bad for this time of year here.
the next day looked a bit more scary.
but that is what makes competitions.
keep safe,
bruce.

Bruce, you wouldn't presuppose that your bretheren chose this time of year to hold this match to give them some sort of home range advantage do you ?

zack,
i mentioned the spring weather here to the organizers well prior to the event.
they said it was timed to suit some reason that suited europeans, and even god almighty could not change it.
our 3 south aussies are reasonably new to the discipline, and acquitted themselves well for their experience.
they have committed to the job and done their damnest to learn all they can in a short time - a steep learning curve.
one thing that comes from competitive shooting is camerardie.
one of our locals had his lock shit itself, and the spanish team fixed it for him for cost of parts, that night.
not many other sports where you see people helping the competition like that.
keep safe,
bruce.

I would say that, after today, during which the Americans won the team match by a goodly bit, that the Australians were largely screwed by having to shoot on target one, which at this range was a giant handicap. Without question, the Australians were not maneuvering for home field advantage. In fact, quite the opposite occurred. One of these days, some of you cynical b******* ought to actually go to a god d*** match like this and see what it's like.

Yeah people speculating on bullshit like Zack there does that to me. The Aussies were great hosts. I dont like seeing them disparaged with ignorant comments like that.

Yes Bruce, I certainly do seem to remember that you have mentioned that about the Spring Weather in Oz on more than one occasion. Which, of course, was why I posed the question to you that I did as it would seem to be common knowledge to the home folks. 8)

Wonder if the Europeans will understand next year why a different date might be a good idea?

Another question comes to mind now, is it true that when a cyclonic event takes place in the southern hemisphere that the rotation is clock wise while in the northern hemisphere it would be counter clock wise?

That being the case, if so, a person from the northern hemisphere who was new to the southern hemisphere and was normally mentally fixated on the flushing of toilets somehow become annoyed or have gastric upset from concentrating on the clockwise movement of excrement and urine in the bowl at the flushing of a toilet in the southern hemisphere. Certainly would explain a bit wouldn't it?

I don't suppose there is a local cure you can recommend for such an ailment is there?

And, by the way, since the closest pole to Australia is the South Pole in Antarctica would there be a tendency for one normally living under the influence of the north pole who suddenly is exposed to the magnetic influences of the south pole concurrent with the coriolis effect to exhibit some type of enhanced bi-polar behavior?

Something else also Bruce: Reading that a large breeding group of Penguins at the South Pole had a catastrophic reproductive event this past summer in that all but two chicks starved to death in the latest cycle. The cause appears or at least is reported to be global cooling due to more and thicker ice which forces the adults to go further from the nesting grounds for food and the added return time causes the chicks to starve to death before the nourishment arrives. One has to wonder how this might affect a global warming adherent with a fragile psyche? No? :?

You know Bruce, something else to consider. As you may know, one of the environmental negatives posited by the global warming believers, (sorry, cannot call them scientists), is that the sea levels will rise, or is it that the sea levels are rising, due to ice packs and glaciers melting due to global warming.

Well, a very recent study shows that the sea levels are actually receding rather than rising and the reason is suspected to be increased snow accumulation in the higher elevations is not melting. And, I am sure you have heard the rumor that all rivers flow to the sea and so the increased snow pack at higher elevations is not melting and is not feeding the rivers which feed the seas.

Imagine, if you will, someone that has put a lot of stock and faith in global warming suddenly finds out it is all a big hoax. I hear a lot of Leftie Liberals have done that. Imagine how disappointed and dismayed they must be to find out it was all a big lie. Just like the real scientists said all along.   Might even make them irritable and lash out at folks.

zack,
all i am interested in is trying to improve my shooting in the wind.
a big ask for a simple country boy like me.
i will add however that i do not believe the aussies tried to gain an advantage.
there was one shooter that left the scene claiming that the range was not fit for purpose due to wind, but the range just happened to be in the weather at the time.
as we know, all competitors try to do their best under whatever circumstances they are in.
those that walk away complaining are just putting up a neon sign advertising their inadequacies.
that range is as good as any in the world, and suited to this event in size and quality.
also 2 organizations worked together in harmony to produce a great world class event.
keep safe,
bruce.

Is there a time of year when average conditions on that range tend to be the most favorable ?
