This is where you can place your scores from the matches. It uses an excel spread sheet! If you send me your sheet of scores I can put it on the forum and provide a link where everyone can view it.

Smithmoor January 22 Match

Post by jackrabbit »

Fellow Shooters,
We had another big match this past Saturday! 28 riflemen and women made it out to test their skills at the January Smithmoor 22 BPCRA match. It was cold and blustery enough the shooters elected to shoot from inside the building. This was the largest match we have held from inside. We ran a fifth station and shot the chickens through the window by the stove. It worked out rather well. For the fifth station we tried something new. We shot a paper target offhand at 50 yards. There was plenty of complaining about the additional offhand target, but I think most folks ended up enjoying it more than they were willing to tell me.
As usual, the food was great this month. Coralee made a giant pan of "taco soup" which was awesome. Lorraine brought over a couple of big pans of super cornbread, Beverly sent down homemade apple crisp, and the donut bandit brought a box of donuts. Thank you to all that put so much effort into our meal, the food was delicious and enjoyed very much!
We had some super shooting again this month. Travis Purdum, Dick Hennebry, and Michael Rix cleaned all the lay downs! Michael also shot an amazing 7 chickens that lead to a phenomenal score of 37! The best part of that super score is that it was also the first time that Michael's son, Weston, had spotted an entire match for his Dad. What a great team, and I am sure the beginning of something really special. We also had some impressive chicken shooting this month with Steve Anderson knocking out 5, and Kevin Finney, Jim Rodebaugh, Coralee Smith, and Mark Pachares all killing 4.
We had a couple more new shooters this month. New shooters are exciting and it pleases us very much to have the interest. Fine young men Wylie Brooks and Ashton Thorne shot their first match, and Keith Kelly shot his first match with a legal rifle.
Zach Farmer was our A class winner this month with a 22. This was his third AA score and he will move up to AA class next month. Good job Zach! In AA, we had Mike Venard shoot a respectable 22 to take 1st. AAA went to a very pleased Coralee Smith with a 31. AAA class was a close race and it came down to the wire to see who would win. 7 or 8 shooters were all within about one point! I was high master with a 35 and Michael Rix's super 37 earned him the title of Match Winner.
We had a lot of interest in the Turkey Lotto this month, and it is always interesting seeing how many hits were on each turkey. Cecil Sauer 's #5 turkey blew everybody away with 25 hits. Pretty amazing only 3 shooters missed it all day. Cecil won 50 bucks and 50 bucks will go into the range improvement fund.
Thank you to everyone for all of the support and encouragement. It is fun having all the enthusiasm found at these larger matches. I hope to see everyone again next month on February 10th for our next Winter Season Match.
Keep your gun clean and your knife sharp,
Cody Smith

Cody,

Sounds like a fun time was had by all, even in the WY winter season.
I laud your dedication to our sport. With the passing of Steve Rhoades, we need young dedicated Match Directors, like yourself, to take over the leadership.

I just wish you were closer to Georgia, so some of us could attend.

Keep up the good work.........
