The match was shot at Lodi, Wisconsin on June 7th & 8th. The seemingly always present Lodi tail winds caused many shots to go much higher or lower than any of us thought they would. I know I got burned at 900 yards the second day, it's the one shot I wished I could do over. Looking back at it I have no idea what I could have done different before the shot and afterwards I would just have put it closer to the middle. We had a temperature of 103 on the 900 yard line the first day with humidity that had us just soaked. The second day the humidity was much higher but the temperature got to only about 76, maybe 78 degrees. We did have a 20 minute rain delay the second day and then we were back at it.
More shooters would be a good thing, but we had a great match with those that came. It seems there may be a CUP match at Lodi again next year and anyone interested has plenty of time to get ready. This match format is very challenging, but it is a lot of fun. It is an excellent opportunity to fine tune your shooting skills. I know that after shooting it last year I was aware of where I needed to improve and I was able to make a few changes that helped my overall shooting and scores. I learned a few more things this year and now I need to work at those. This match challenges me and by working on that challenge I believe it has helped me to improve more than I would if I just stayed with the usual match format. I plan to be there next year for sure. Come and enjoy the challenge!
It is disappointing that I can't seem to get the columns to line up here, but it is what it is and it's the best I could do.
