July Cheyenne Mid Range matches RESULTS

Post by 40-65rl »

First my personal thanks to Jeff Dierkson, member of the Cheyenne Rifle and pistol Club who came out to help set up the range prior to the match, worked whatever needed to be done during both days and helped cleanup the range after the match. Thanks to all who took down flags, closed the pits up, got the trash leaned up and put the targets back in the store room. Thanks also to Kenny Wiesenberger, Robert Garibay and Bryan Youngberg for their leadership in the pits and especially to Kenny who found himself making a repair on a 500 yard target when the slighter disk was hit and a three inch hole in the X and ten ring as created. He got it repaired and we moved on within a few minutes. The first day, the MR-500, a 300, 500- and 600-yard set saw 9 shooters that included Brian Haffey who drove out from Pennsylvania to shoot, John Madden from Idaho and Steve Farringer from Indiana. Really appreciate their support. Marty Donato, the Chief Range Officer for many National BPCR Silhouette Championships came up from Colorado after getting bored at home and he graciously spotted for me. Been a long time but he still has spotting skills. Steve Farringer won the first day with an excellent 270 with the, he is always in it, Jack Odor taking second with 256. Winds were tame, but the temp was in the mid-90s. Lunch on both days was the school lunch of Lunchables due to the black death so we were unable to provide the usual bologna sandwiches. The second day was an all 600-yard match. The wind machine amped up a bit and was difficult to read for the second and third targets, but were only in 15-20 mph range. Robert Garibay, President for the BPTRA, and Cody Smith joined for the Sunday match. Steve Farringer was once again the match winner with a 239 and Bryan Youngberg came back after his scope fell off on Saturday, scoring 239 a tie with Steve but Steve’s last target was a 76 beating Bryan’s last target of 71 x for the win. The Aggregate winner was Steve Farringer with a 509, Jack Odor took second place with a 486 and Steve Anderson, Wyoming Sight Drifter inventor donated one for his tools and he also won it as the high spotter. He donated it back for the next match at Cheyenne. Thanks to Steve who supports all the Cheyenne and Smithmoor matches. A BIG thank you to Swiss powder, SPG, Green Mountain Barrels, John Walters Wads and Tin, all who also continue to support the matches at Cheyenne. With the Raton matches in doubt, stay tuned as Cheyenne may be hosting a money match in August. Here are the scores and again, many, many thanks to the shooters who continue to support black powder target matches. New shooters are always welcome, it not as complicated as some think.

Steve F. is going to be hard to live with when he returns to Indiana in a few days. Wins in Byers and now in Cheyenne. Congrats Steve. Looking forward to seeing you this weekend back here.
