Lodi 2020 1000 yard match.

This is where you can place your scores from the matches. It uses an excel spread sheet! If you send me your sheet of scores I can put it on the forum and provide a link where everyone can view it.

Lodi 2020 1000 yard match.

Post by Distant Thunder »

Lodi 2020 1000 yard match was held September 26th & 27th and proved to be challenging for many. I personally was pretty busy working with my newly rebarreled Shiloh in .44-77 with a 17-twist Krieger so I never got so much as a clue about what the conditions were. The first long range attempt with this new barrel is probably best described as a disaster, but boy did I have fun playing with it.

This match is 3 relays at 1000 yards for each of 2 days weather permitting and on Sunday the weather was not permitting and we got rained out.

We had the usual Friday night fish fry at Fitz's on the Lake and prime rib or whatever was to your liking on Saturday night. We also had a few beers and got some interesting archery lessons from Cliff Gregg, including straightening wood arrows and a fine demonstration of shooting a recurve with the then straightened arrows.

It was a great weekend, well except for the rain late Sunday.

Looks like there was a pretty good turnout.

Ian,

It certainly was by this years standards, but the club would like to see the number higher (more income to the club) if they are going to continue to give the range time to BPTR people. We are a little misunderstood by those who shoot modern rifles! If get my drift.

Lodi is a fun range to shoot.
It would be a damn shame to loose this legacy match.
The time for the dog ate my homework, and my mom's boyfriend had the car to take her sister to work excuse has come to and end for the "locals"

Yes!!!!! PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE, Do not let this match be canceled!! I was talking with Cliff and he had mentioned changing the time from Mothers day weekend to the week before as to try and get more attendance. If you have ever thought of coming to Lodi please come next spring!! We really need the support to keep this venue alive for us as BPTR shooters.

But as far as the shoot, the winds were a little challenging and really challenging for not having a spotter!! but all in all it was nice to meet some new faces and spend some time with others.

Great shooting all and congrats To Mark , Tony and Ed!!!

BPCR Shooter, keep hearing that Michigan Shooters NEVER cross the state line to shoot anything but The Bull.

IIRC there are a boat load of BPTR wannabees in Michigan. Any word on what it would take to entice them to shoot Lodi?

Sure hope the Illinois shooters don't catch the same keyboard madness pandemic afflicting so many.

I am afraid we are almost in the same boat with the long range matches at Camp Atterbury. They almost had to cancel the last long range match we had there in September just because of attendance. The 1200 yard match is still kind of up in the air at this time but I think we will have just enough shooters to make it possible. I don’t know if it’s going to get any better though in the coming years.

There is a thing between those MI shooters and the Wisconsin shooters. It is called Lake Michigan. For most Michiganders it is farther to Wisconsin than many other places as there are no bridges across the lake and getting around Chicago is a problem not matter what time you attempt it. Going across the UP is a long trip also. I've seen a few of those Wisconsin shooters in MI so a little reciprocity is in order. I would like to try one of their matches sometime. It would be 4 days on the road and several days there. Maybe next year if I can get someone to go with me and share expenses.

John I might be interested in joining you depending on how other things work out as far as schedules go. Once the skirmish schedule is out and other shooting schedules are out I will get the Kentucky shoots on the calendar and maybe see what’s going on.

Sounds like it might work Ian. I could meet you at your place and we take I74 to I39 and avoid all that Chicago stuff. It's a hard days' ride from your place to Lodi. We'll just have to wait and see how it all shapes up next year.

It would fantastic to have you both there for sure!!
I will keep in touch with Cliff/Mark and attend the meeting when we discuss matches. I should know more after the 1st of the year. I will post when I do to give you and anyone time to decide!!

Awesome! I am on the mailing list to get the e mails. I was close to coming for the last shoot but I just had some stuff that I needed to get caught up around the house.

I live in the NW corner of Illinois and I shoot at Alma MI just about every month except in June and July when I shoot the western gong shoots. Going to Alma takes me 6.5 hrs at a minimum depending on the concrete parking lots going through Gary Indiana where you at times make 100 yards in 10/15 minutes or longer at times. It seems like when I head to Alma people are leaving the concrete jungle they call a city and when I go home so are they.
What I do quite often is taking the northern rout over the bridge and down the UP and this takes me a extra day or some times two weeks to get back home :) love that country in the UP and Northern Wisconsin. I make this trip several times during the season because I like that match and most important I like the people that I shoot with and to me it's worth the hassle going through Chicago and Gary, but I take the northern rout to avoid the jungle. :D

About 3,500 miles round trip for me and each year I look at Lodi first. As others have said, great match put on by The Legends of Lodi, great people to shoot with, and nice range.

Oh, forgot to mention, if you offer one of the competitors a beer you don't have to ask their age or to show I.D.
