Best Load

Post by John Drolet »

I've just bought an early Farmingdale rifle in 54 cal and want to get set-up right to do some casual shooting. From reading past posts, I get the impression that 50gr of FFg behind a 465 gr Rapine ringtail does well.

QUESTIONS: 1. what bullet diameter suits the early Farmingdales,
2. what is the best source for bullets?

Thanks[/b]

you need to slug the bore to know proper size. as far as a load. have used the ringtail u note best loads for me was 38 of 2ff and 42 of 2ff out to 100 yrds. I do not shoot more than that. cant see using any more powder than you need. personaly i would start w/ 36 and work up.
