Early Farmingdale Rifle--When Manufactured

Post by John Drolet »

Hi,

I just bought an early Farmingdale (ser # 1664) "New Model 1863" rifle in 54 cal, and would like to confirm the information provided by the original owner.

Can anyone give me an idea of APPROXIMATELY when it was made?

Previous owner said early '70's with about a year's waiting time and cost over $1k in pre-inflation dollars.

Thanks

I don't know about age but, I have a factory brochure from 12/1/78 that lists that rifle at $425 and carbine at $375. Hope he didn't rake you over the coals too badly.
