Original Slant Breech Sharps at Louisville Show

Post by Bill Goodman »

I went to the big Louisville, KY gun show over the past weekend. I observed over a half dozen slant breech sporters and carbines. All had seen real use, yet NONE had splintered forends or obvious signs of gas leaking problems etc. A few had obviously seen really hard use/abuse, yet mechanically they seemed okay. The Sporters were .44/.45 caliber. If I was around back in the 1850s I'd have had one (or two).
