rate of twist in carbine

It occurred to me today that I had never meaured the rate of twist in any of my '63 rifles.

My .50 carbine has a twist of 1x42". By comparison, my 50-70 Military Rifle has 1x36', a twist that will not stabilize 600+ gr bullets. Just as well - they aren't fun to shoot in a rifle that light!

Now I'm wondering what twist the '63 percussion Military Rifle has ...... ?
Tomorrow, I'm too tired right now.

I think you will find it to be 1 in 48 twist for the rifle. My rifle shoots the Lymann mini ( 420 gr. ) and the 520 gr Ped bullets very well. The mini's are hard to beat out to 100-125 yds.
