Mike,
I use a slightly hard lead, about 1-30. I use a Rapine ringtail mold and 50 grains of FFG GOEX in my 63 carbine.

I use the same alloy as for my brass cartridge BPCRs and FFg.

Two of my '63s are .50s, and a Sporter in .54. I wish the Sporter was also a .50.

If you don't mind the suggestion, change your order to .50. Less powder, less lead, less recoil = more fun. Sporter or Military?

Anything you want to hunt will be just as dead and you'll suffer a lot less 'recoil fatique' in an afternoon of shooting. On the other hand, if you enjoy taking a beating from a rifle, enjoy!

I've had great accuracy with my 54 cal. Sporter with 1-30 mix, Rapine ring tale and Brooks "Charlie Hahn" bullets. J.Y.
